Do you own a business, or are you part of a club or organization in Monessen? Do you have a copy of a family photo or genealogy? The Historical Society and the Monessen Community Development Corporation are working together with the City to prepare a new time capsule in commemoration of Monessen 125. Here is a list of items we are looking for: Business Advertisements, Essays, Family photos, Advertising pens, Genealogies, Predictions for the next 25 years, Family recipes, Biographies, Business cards and Letterheads, Event program books, Calendars from businesses and churches, menus, Newsletters and Letters, etc. Items can be dropped off at Monessen Public Library or the Heritage Museum during regular business hours. Items can also be mailed. Please label all items, especially photos. All are welcome to join us on Saturday, August 19, 2023, from 2-4 PM, at the Monessen Heritage Museum for light refreshments. The contents of the 1998 time capsule will be displayed. The former living mayors of Monessen are invited to donate an item in honor of their administrations. There will be a short program. At a later date, the new time capsule will be buried at Monessen City Park. Please participate and donate something for the time capsule! Questions, please call the Historical Society at 724-684-8460.
